Biographical Sketch
My hope is to inspire all students (especially young women, minorities, and the underprivileged) to excel in STEM subjects (science, technology, engineering, and math), graduate from high school, attend college, and pursue meaningful careers in those fields. This hasn't always been my passion. I'm a career changer. The culmination of my life experiences has brought me to the point of becoming an educator.
I'm originally from Southern California and graduated from California State University, Long Beach with a Biology Major/Chemistry Minor. I worked in the consulting engineering field for twelve years as a Project Chemist and an Environmental Scientist in Salt Lake City. After an unplanned move to St. George, I worked as an ESL Assistant at Tonaquint Intermediate. While there, I worked with immigrant students from around the globe. It was while working with these students that I decided to earn my teaching license from Dixie State University and become a Secondary Science Teacher. While finishing my education classes, I accepted my first teaching position as an intern at Fossil Ridge Intermediate. This is now my fifth year at Snow Canyon Middle School teaching 9th grade Earth Science. I'm proud to be a Warrior and I look forward to a great year!
